Meet Morty - Kenyan Sand Boa

We picked Morty up from BHB at a reptile show at the Dulles Convention Center during the North American Reptile Breeders Conference and Trade Show (NARBC).  Though we prefer adopting animals that need to be rehomed, and though Kenyan Sand Boas do come along now and then on the rehome circuit, we chose to purchase Morty from a reputable breeder we know and trust.

Soon after Morty had settled in, we discovered that he had not been converted from live to frozen thawed prey.  Francois made many valiant efforts to convince Morty that frozen thawed pinky mice were just as good as live ones, but none were successful.  When i contacted Brian Barczyk at BHB, he was perfectly happy to provide all the customer service and advice I needed, despite the fact that we were customers that had only spent $40, whereas he has others who spend thousands.  And with Brian's advice, we finally were able to get Morty to take frozen thawed, but not until he was large enough to take hopper mice.
